Devynn Smith Devynn Smith, Instructor & Choreographer

Devynn auditioned for The Nutcracker with The Southern California Dance Theatre in 1997. Her debut performance was in the Land of the Sugar Plum Fairy among the ballet corps with The Children of Mother Ginger. In 1998, she once again earned her role onstage with the ballet troupe as a member of the Band of Soldiers.

By the age of 13, she was already teaching her very own Tap/Creative Movement class for 3-5 year olds.  Her exposure and experience has allowed Devynn to develop into a versatile Instructor of numerous disciplines, levels and age groups.

She has taken her own dance teams to regional competitions where they have been presented with specialty awards for their energy and dance personality.  Devynn has also been recognized with a Top Choreography Award.

Devynn became a member of the performance and competing Song Squad at Santa Fe High School in 2004.  Her team has successfully participated in both regional and national competitions each year.  Their participation in the 2006 Jamz Competition in Las Vegas brought home a 2nd Place National Award.

Her Puerto Rican roots motivated Devynns’ desire to get a taste of the "ritmo y sabor" of salsa.  Her salsa training began with Rudy Ramirez of RUD Productions in 2005.  She became a performing member of the R.U.D 3 team.  The teams unique style of dance and choreography combined with outstanding performance skills, made them a hit at each venue they showcased their talent.  Her team danced at the 2006 Summer Splash event in Palm Springs, which lead to an invitation for Devynn to work with Al “Liquid Silver” Espinoza.  Shortly after training with Al and Karla Espinoza, she was asked to become a member of the Liquid Silver Productions (LSP) Team.

Devynn is a gifted and talented dance instructor and performer.  Her spirited character and outgoing personality create a jovial environment in her dance classes and lights up any stage.

I am recommending this studio to all my friends, wonderful owners and my daughter just loves her instructors. If you've been looking for a Dance Studio for your child then you need not look any further. Costomer service was wonderful and my daughter had a great time. Pros: Great People who really like to teach. Cons: parking can get alittle tight.

We had our "First Dance" lesson before our wedding at Stepping Out.  I totally have two left feet, but Giesel, the teacher, was super-encouraging and SO nice.  She broke down the beat to the song we chose and showed us the steps and went over it with us over and over again.  Now my two left feet can waltz! Oh, and before our private lesson, we watched the little ones doing ballet--that was super-adorable too.

My girls have been at Stepping Out for 3 years now and we love it! The staff is friendly and the instructors have a great time with their students. This studio does not play favorites toward students on their competition teams as I've experienced elsewhere. They treat ALL students and parents equally! Their rates are lower then most, their recital information with additional costs are outlined clearly in writing and we choose to participate or opt out. Costume charges are 1/2 the cost of the other studios and they even offer fundraisers to help parents out. If you're looking for a good family environment and great dance instruction, I HIGHLY recommend Stepping Out! Pros: Classes aren't overcrowded, Instructors are experienced, facility even has a dancewear boutique, prices are fair.
